Biography
Camille Butcher has been a member of the International Opera Studio in Zürich since 2009 and has been singing various roles for Opernhaus Zürich, such as Gretel in "Hänsel und Gretel", Ein junger Hirt in "Tannhäuser", 1. Solostimme and 1. nackte Jungfrau in "Moses und Aron".
During her studies, she sang the roles of First Witch in Händel's "Dido and Aeneas", the title role in Orff's "Die Kluge", Laura in Millöcker's "Der Bettelstudent" in Karlsruhe and Lübeck and was engaged to sing Barbarina in "Le Nozze di Figaro" at Theater Pforzheim. In 2009, Camille Butcher sang Anna Reich/"Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor" at Schloss Weikersheim and subsequently won the «Walter und Charlotte Hamel Stiftung» Prize for the most promising opera singer. In 2010, she was engaged to sing Pamina in "Die Zauberflöte" in Bregenz, Austria.
On the concert platform Camille Butcher appeared as a soloist in Händel's "The Messiah", Mahler's "Symphony No. 4", Bach's "Weihnachtsoratorium" and she sang recitals at the Brahms Festival in Lübeck.
Future plans include soprano solo in Haydn's "Die Jahreszeiten", Papagena in a new production of "Die Zauberflöte" at Nationaltheater Mannheim, Mimì in "Scènes de la vie de bohème" at Grand Théâtre de Genève and Marzelline in "Fidelio" in Singapore, among others.

Camille Butcher was born in Wales and completed her undergraduate studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. In Germany as a post graduate student, she studied at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe and the Musikhochschule Lübeck.
