Born in Vienna, he studied at the Vienna Conservatory going on to appear in theatres in Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany. He was then engaged at the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich where he sang Figaro Le Nozze Di Figaro, Harlequin Ariadne Auf Naxos and the title role of Don Giovanni.
His debut at the Wiener Staatsoper was as Papageno Die Zauberflöte, a role he also sang at the Wiener Volksoper. A gifted Mozartian, he was invited as a guest artist to sing Papageno, Don Giovanni and Figaro in Paris, Monte Carlo, Athens, Basel, Düsseldorf, Santiago de Chile, St Gallen, the Berlin Staatsoper, Barcelona dn Capetown.
More recently he appeared as Harlequin Ariadne Auf Naxos in Philadelphia and New York, as Heerrufer Lohengrin in Naples, in Daphne in Barcelona, as Falke and Danilo at the Teatro Regio Torino, in Turandot (Busoni) in Amsterdam and as Eisenstein in Graz and Bonn.
He sang the role of Morald Die Feen for Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Sprecher, Escamillo and Don Alfonso in Klagenfurt, Papageno in Madrid, Flake in Jerusalem, Danilo in Paris, Kaspar in Graz and Don Fernando Fidelio in Bolzano and Modena.
He appeared again as Kaspar in Amsterdam, Escanukki at the St Margarethen Festival, Sprecher at Covent Garden and Jochanaan at the Wiener Volksoper for which he was awarded the Golden Schikaneder Prize. Among recent engagements was the role of Geisterbote Frau Ohne Schatten at the Bayerische Staatsoper.
Recently, as well as his appearances at the Volksoper Wien he sang Monterone at ROH Covent Garden and Don Fernando in the Salzburg International Festival.
